Centre for Mental Health

Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy for the Elderly

Our clinic specializes in care and treatment of mentally ill people in older age. It is the only established speciality department on this field in the region of Stuttgart. We offer, in close cooperation with the clinic's somatic speciality departments, a full range of consulting on outpatient treatment to partially and fully inpatient care and aftercare.

The clinic has a total of 66 beds, a day clinic with 26 places and the Memory Clinic (memory consultation) with its gerontopsychiatric outpatient care institute with a differentiated treatment and counselling for patients and relatives. Special wards are established focusing on psychosis in elderly patients, depression in old age and for people with dementia and challenging behaviour. An interdisciplinary ward including a clinic for endocrinology, diabetology and geriatrics is going to be provided. The clinic is associated with the gerontopsychiatric consulting services (GerBera) in Stuttgart-West, East and Feuerbach. A close cooperation with various institutions for the elderly and the social psychiatry complete the services offered.

The hospital is a teaching hospital of the German Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (DAGPP).
