Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology

The Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology is a central institution for all non-neuroradiological diagnostic and minimal invasive interventional –therapeutic procedures for the various Departments of Klinikum Stuttgart both in- and outpatient. The Department also offers treatment to patients from other hospitals.

Our Department is equipped with the most modern radiography equipment (1,5 T and 3 T MRI, Flash-CT, Siemens Zeego angiography system) next to a multi-slice CT in Katharinen Hospital’s Trauma Unit, a PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and an automatic speech recognition system. For the interventional procedures we dispose of a special hybrid-operating room which integrates our high tech Zeego angiography system in an operating room setting.  For in- and outpatient procedures we offer four outpatient beds and nine self managed inpatient beds on the ward D3.

The Department is certified through the German Radiological Society (Deutsche Röntgengesellschaft) for interventional procedures and is also a certified member of the Interdisciplinary Vascular Center, the certified Gastrointestinal Center, the certified Prostate Center and the Interdisciplinary Diabetic Foot Center in Klinikum Stuttgart. With the support of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation we also established the Liver Center at Katharinen Hospital.
