Paediatrics 4 – Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care

The Neonatology Department at Olgahospital, unique in its kind in Stuttgart, along with the Women's Clinic of the Bad Cannstatt Hospital, forms the Perinatal Centre (PNC) of Stuttgart. It is acknowledged, after Berlin, as Germany's second largest perinatal centre and as top perinatal centre of the highest level of care. More than 1,100 premature and sick neonates are treated and monitored each year at three stations. The intensive care and monitoring station in the perinatal centre are located next door to the delivery room area. Thus, there are optimal conditions for birth (especially in high-risk pregnancy, multiple pregnancies, foetal illness and premature delivery attempts). A paediatrics specialist is present around the clock and is automatically called at any high-risk birth.

Highly qualified paediatricians and paediatric nurses treat young patients in close cooperation with specialists from across Olgahospital. We are the first clinic in Germany where a senior physician is additionally present around the clock.
