The Clinical Psychology Institute is part of the Centre for Mental Health of Stuttgart Hospital and structurally and organizationally intergrated with psychological services, to guarantee a high quality of psychological services.
The core functions of the Institute include (neuro-) psychological diagnostics, individual and group psychotherapy, and case and team supervision. A part of the staff works with case responsibility on the wards of the centre's clinics. The institute also offers clinic and station spanning, disorder-specific treatment groups. Neuropsychological diagnosis will be also offered across the clinic, not only for the centre's psychiatric clinics, but also for the Neurological Clinic of the Hospital. As part of a teaching clinic or private consultation, patients may engage to outpatient psychotherapy.
In addition, the institute is involved in training and further education of various professional groups. Thus, for example psychological psychotherapist students may graduate here under the guidance and supervision of their “psychiatric stay”. But also the part of psychotherapeutic specialist training is mainly performed by the Institute. Finally, the Institute makes an important contribution in the development of psychiatric care.
