The Clinic for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery provides trauma care on a regional basis – and offers (for adults) the entire range of modern, conservative and surgical orthopaedic therapy (with the exception of spinal-cord surgery).

Joint damage is treated via cartilage-reconstruction procedures, surgery to improve bio-mechanics, along with other innovative procedures (i.e., mesenchymal stem-cell transplantation). State-of-the-art joint-replacement implants are inserted here, some with the aid of navigation devices to ensure accurate placement by the millimetre/degree.

Hip endoprostheses are implanted using minimally-invasive techniques whenever possible. Hip-cap prostheses and endoprostheses designed to preserve as much bone as possible are applied preferably. Custom-manufactured hip endoprostheses are used in special cases.

A particular emphasis at this clinic is state-of-the-art knee endoprosthetics – for instance, the implantation of knee joints with improved bending capacity and adaptations (such as those specially designed for women's anatomy). Endoprosthetics of the shoulder and ankle are performed with the latest anatomically-engineered implants. Patients affected by a nickel allergy receive hypo-allergenic implants, revisions are individually planned, and perioperative measures to minimise the necessity for third-party blood transfusions are performed consistently.

Our spectrum of services also includes differentiated foot and ankle surgery – even complex corrective surgeries, neuro-orthopaedics, sports and arthroscopic orthopaedics as well as tumour orthopaedics. This clinic is a member of the Rheumazentrum Württemberg.
