The clinic treats patients with urogenital tract diseases. This includes the diagnosis and treatment of malformations of the urinary organs, inflammatory diseases, urinary stones in kidneys, ureters and bladder, urinary problems and incontinence. In addition, all tumours in kidneys, adrenal glands, ureter, bladder, prostate, testes and penis, as well as anomalies and diseases of the male genitalia, lesions of the kidneys, urinary tract and external genitalia are treated using modern methods. Transplantations of donated cadaveric and living kidneys are also performed, including all preparatory and remedial actions.

Over 1,000 open and 7,000 minimally invasive surgical endoscopic urological procedures are performed annually in the clinic.

  • Urinary stones: endourology, laser therapy, extracorporeal shock wave therapy
  • Transurethral endoscopic treatment of urethral diseases, benign prostate conditions, urinary bladder tumours using the latest techniques, including fluorescence endoscopy and laser therapy
  • Reconstructive surgery of kidneys, urinary tract and external genitalia

Outstanding procedures in diagnosis and therapy
  • Single-port laparoscopy with nephrectomy and cyst removal from kidneys
  • Postoperative pain therapy with epidural catheter and fast track management after radical tumour surgery (e.g. cystectomy and urinary diversion)
  • Living kidney transplantation in AB0-incompatibility (in cooperation with the Clinic for Kidney and Hypertension diseases)
Scientific activities
  • Retrospective study of postoperative long-term course and complications regarding quality of life after living kidney donation
  • Retrospective study of outcome after partial nephrectomy in cold perfusion

  • Certification for the Prostate Cancer Centre according to the guidelines of DKG and ISO 9001:2008
