The Central Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine treats inpatients of Stuttgart Hospital with the entire range of laboratory diagnostics. A highly motivated team of doctors, scientists and medical technical assistants ensure a broad spectrum of analysis and are available for consulting and interpretation of findings. For emergencies, special analytical services are available around the clock. The Institute has one of the nation's most advanced laboratory automation systems in a hospital laboratory. In early 2011, a new generation pre-analytical system was introduced to expedite the processing of laboratory samples, to minimize the risk of confusion for patients and to increase work safety for personnel.

Ongoing methodological developments, such as in clinical toxicology, molecular biology and immunophenotyping, ensure an optimal level of quality. By introducing an additional LC-MS/MS system the continuous availability of drugs analysis is ensured and the detection of medication and drugs in even lower concentrations becomes possible. The affiliated laboratory practice at Katharinenhospital, remains with its services at the disposal of all insured, private and panel patients, daily 24 hours. A close cooperation with transfusion medicine, human genetics, hospital hygiene, pathology and pharmacy means for our patients and our sender the rendering of diagnostic and pharmaceutical services from a single source.
