This clinic comprises the Departmental Section "Haematology and Internistic Oncology" at the Klinikum Stuttgart.

In addition to the treatment of general internistic disorders, this specialised department offers – in cross-location teamwork – the entire spectrum of haemato-oncological diagnostics (Special Haematological Lab) and therapy. The treatment of malignant disorders takes place on an interdisciplinary basis.

In this process, a differentiated and accordingly co-ordinated treatment strategy likewise has the success potential exhibited by the large-scale interdisciplinary tumour conference established and directed by this clinic; this conference takes place in co-operation with nearly all of the various disciplines involved in tumour treatment.

The close co-operation with the Universities of Tübingen and Ulm (particularly for leukaemias) ensures the application of innovative concepts and procedures.

Treatment and care priorities

This clinic also functions as the co-ordinator for the Intestinal Care Centre at the Klinikum Stuttgart (certified in 2008), and has its own Consultation Centre for Palliative Medicine. At the affiliated Katharinenhospital, on Ward M9, there is also a Palliative Unit with three beds.
