The Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine of Bad Cannstatt Hospital offers anaesthesia services to the Department of General and Visceral Surgery, the Women's Hospital, the Centre for Dermatology and the Clinic for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery.
Anaesthesia in Bad Cannstatt Hospital is committed to comprehensive, optimal service for patients and surgical teams. The patient service includes in particular the optimization of premedication, the minimization of sobriety phase, the optimization of postoperative pain therapy with catheter techniques, as well as the prevention of nausea and vomiting. In all areas, considerable progress could be made in recent years.
Special emphasis is also given to the optimization of postoperative pain therapy in pregnant women, in caesarean sections under local anaesthesia. Postoperative pain therapy is patient-controlled analgesia.
In the ICU, there is a close collaboration with internal medicine. State of the art monitoring, sophisticated ventilation therapy and organ replacement therapy (CVVHDF and calcium citrate haemodialysis) are well established in the interdisciplinary ICU. Diagnosis and treatment of acute pain are supported, since the beginning of the year, by a trained pain nurse.
